The
Pleasure Singers is a
choir of female singers who meet once a week on Wednesday afternoons
at Holy
Trinity Church Hall, Rushams Road in Horsham,
West Sussex, for a rehearsal and a chat
over a cup of tea and a biscuit.
The
choir's name couldn't be more appropriate as its members sing
for pleasure and are often told by appreciative audiences that
they give a great deal of pleasure through their singing.
Throughout
the year The Pleasure Singers perform at a number of venues
in West Sussex, entertaining folk at retirement homes, care
homes and community centres and at special concerts in aid of
various charities, such as CHASE
hospice care for children, Breast
Cancer Research and Chestnut
Tree House children's hospice.
These
ever-popular charity concerts usually include guest appearances
by one or two local singers and musicians, such as Sarah Esser,
John Noyce, Marisha Jenkins, Ian Gardner and Cliff
Levene. Other recent guests have included the soprano
Sharon
Elizabeth and even an "Elvis Look-alike".
The
concert programme also features solo performances by The Pleasure
Singers' own choirmistress Dianne Walters and the choir's piano
accompanist Mark
Reeves.
