Review
from Mannings Heath "Link" magazine May 2009:
With
Great Pleasure.........
Those
who stayed at home on Saturday evening 18th April missed
a real treat at St Andrew's Church when 'The Pleasure
Singers', a 40-strong ladies choir led by Dianne
Walters, came to sing for our entertainment. They gave us
a feast of music which featured songs from the shows ('Fiddler
on The Roof' and 'Phantom of The Opera'), light classical
favourites, pieces of religious music and even a children's
nursery rhyme! This was three and four-part harmony singing
to really enjoy.
Besides the highly accomplished accompanist and arranger Martin
[sic] Reeves, the choir brought with them soloists John Noyce,
(bass), who sang "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Ol'
Man River", and young Marisha Jenkins
(soprano) who sang two songs, including "On My Own"
from 'Les Miserables'. Dianne also performed a solo with a
wonderful rendering of "This is My Beloved" from
Kismet".
If
the choir comes back to At Andrew's again, be sure not
to miss it!

Review
from the "London Road Methodist Church Newsletter"
September 2008:
Tuesday
afternoon Fellowship 22nd July
WE
HAD A CONCERT by "The Pleasure Singers" a local
ladies choir which claims to have a wide repertoire. This
proved to be the case and we were entertained by such
extremes as the very secular "Diamonds Are A Girl's
Best Friend" (although there were many blondes in
the choir no one looked like Marilyn Monroe) and the spiritual
"This Little Light Of Mine" in a rendering nearly
as good as the version by "The Seekers" in the
60's.
Songs
from the shows included "My Fair Lady" and "Phantom
Of The Opera" and in complete contrast we heard that
beautiful setting by John Rutter of "A Gaelic Blessing"
very sensitively sung. These were only a few items in a
wide and varied programme.
The choir was balanced, the voices blended well together
and the concert was a delight to hear. The gentlemen in
the audience were not put off by being outnumbered on this
occasion by the ladies (about 30 in the choir) and at least
20 in the audience) but the published programme suited all
tastes.
