July
4th 2002 - Gig news...
Check out the GIGS
section for the next run of dates which feature different venues
and support acts. The Freebutt in Brighton proved to be a resounding
success last Friday, so it's pretty certain that the Concorde 2
gig in August will be well worth watching, especially as GABBA will
be there with their unique blend of New York punk (Ramones) fused
with Seventies Scandinavian pop (ABBA) - go to the LINKS
page and visit their Web site for more info. Don't
miss this gig!...Also, keep a look out for a gig with
GABBA in October at The Garage in Highbury, London.
Deborah
Harry at The Barbican...
On Sunday 19th May, Martin
and Lisa went to the Barbican, London to see Ms Harry perform with
The Jazz Passengers.
"Wow!" said Lisa, "Brilliant, she looked gorgeous,
in a red dress, totally glamorous and sophisticated, a very different
look to her solo gig the night before at The G.A.Y.club, Soho, London.
Sadly, we didn't make that one as we were gigging ourselves, but
saw her picture in the paper. We also had the pleasure of meeting
a fellow Blondie Tribute vocalist, Sam, from Once More Into The
Bleach.
"Deborah sounded comfortably at ease with the style change,
I was transfixed! The whole evening was fascinating, The Jazz Passengers
were brilliant and the jazz/orchestra blend was a trip! The BBC
Concert Orchestra were superb. We even managed to see Debbie leave
her car and enter the Artistes door. We quickly slipped her driver
a copy of our cd! Hope she gets it...and listens to it! Be nice
to know what she thinks?? Anyway, Deborah Harry is f***ing amazing".
May
24th 2002 - Gig News...
The date for the next Rock Asylum
gig in Horsham is now 5th July, not 12th July as previously published
on this site. Also, bad news regarding The Gun Tavern in Croydon,
as their music licence has been revoked, so the gig booked for 1st
June has been cancelled.
Live

Asylum gig in Broadbridge Heath, Horsham, portraying Plastic Letters

Dear Plastic Letters,
Brilliant
site - what a lot of work is going into it. You guys have really
got it together and I wish you all the luck in the world.
Looking forward to seeing you again in concert soon!!!!!!!!! - T.,
Plastic Letters Fan. Thanks
Mum! - Lisa.
Did
you know...?
Lisa's favourite Blondie albums are 'Blondie' and 'Plastic Letters'.
"When I was 13 I was desperate to go to a Blondie gig in London's
'Marquee' club, Waldorf Street. But my big brother couldn't come,
and my Mum wouldn't, (sensibly, I realise now!), let me go along
with my fellow 14 yr old friend. So I had to make do with my vinyl!
Always a big regret that I never got to see them. But I did get
there to see other bands like the Buzzcocks and Sham 69.
Then of course there was The Greyhound in Croydon, where I saw some
top bands of the era! Gen.X , X Ray Specs, The Damned and many more.
Still, I finally got to see my Idol live at The Lyceum, London in
1998...better late than never?"

I have just finished listening to your new CD and I think it's great!!
Lisa your voice sounds brilliant and the overall sound is really
authentic. It's a good choice of songs as well, I used to love 'Will
Anything Happen', it was a great track when it came out and I haven't
heard it for years. I'm afraid we are playing this weekend, so won't
be able to make it to see you, but I hope you have fun (after all,
that's what it's all about). See you real soon, love Jason Wadey
xx.
Newsflash from Lisa's Memoires...
"While sitting waiting for the other band Martin is in to get
up and play, I overheard a conversation, (which I later joined in
with!), about Debbie Harry.
Of course my ears pricked up when I heard her name mentioned.
We were at the rehearsal stage then and hadn't played our first
gig.
I heard a guy saying that he'd been working backstage at Glastonbury
one year when Debbie was there, and couldn't resist telling her
that he'd "spanked his monkey" whilst ogling her picture
in his bedroom as a youth.
She later had a bottle of champagne sent over to him. Thanking him
for the compliment. Cool huh? I thought this was a real coincidence
hearing this story, especially as we were to do our first gig in
this pub!"

Hi there, just wanted to know when will the band be playing
again in the Croydon area & where as me & my mate were at
The Cartoon & we enjoyed the evening - Dean Benham.
Dean, thanx for the interest!! I will
send an attachment of our gig guide. You'll notice there are two
other bands dates on the list..this is because the "guys"
are in two other bands! We are waiting for dates for the Cartoon,
also The Gun at Sth Croydon. Will let you know when we get a date!
Anyway hope to see you at some of the dates, The Bar Stars are a
good laugh if you fancy coming along to any of their dates.
p.s. did you buy a c/d? If so didya like it?
Seeya - Lisa & The Guys.
