THE
GARDEN RESIDENTS |
PIXIE
the dog
|
Belongs
to the owners of the house & lives out in the garden. She
thinks of it as ‘her’ garden and that she is in charge
of all that goes on in it – but she isn’t! |
BOOKY
the worm
|
Lives
in the wormery where he is fed a steady supply of food waste &
newspaper cuttings (The Times) which he reads avidly and is, therefore,
knowledgeable and articulate but very wordy. |
LIGHTNING
the collared dove
|
Intellectually
challenged but friendly and likeable. Accident prone and a fidget
with a tendency to use the wrong words at times. |
SIXPENCE
the blackbird
|
Mr
Cool. Full of confidence (some would say arrogance) and a bit
of a bully at times. However, he has a heart of gold. A one for
the ladies. |
CHRIS
the robin
|
Inquisitive
– especially concerning Pixie’s owners. Likes to observe
what’s going on. |
TWITCH
the squirrel
|
Paranoid.
She’s convinced someone or something is watching her every
move. Guards her nut feeder as if it were the crown jewels. Head
constantly jerking in different directions to ensure she’s
not being watched or followed. |
DIZZY
the blue tit
|
Perpetual
motion. Always on the move and always on the look out for food.
Never has time to stop for anything. |
|
THE
MAGPIES |
STRANKS
|
Female
of the pair. Ruthless, heartless and utterly determined. Only
interested in what she wants and totally focused on achieving
it. Treats Bastaple appallingly. |
BASTAPLE
|
Male
of the pair. Besotted by Stranks to begin with but he has too
much of a conscience and is too aware of what’s right and
wrong. Eventually has to choose between her and his conscience. |
|
SUNDRIES |
THE SPARROWS
|
Boisterous
and gregarious and small. Appear in certain scenes and form part
of the chorus for most songs with dancing and backing vocals. |
THE STARLINGS
|
Same
as the sparrows, only bigger.
|
VOICES
1 & 2
(Stan & Fred)
|
Builders.
Don’t appear on stage but their voices are heard from off
stage in one scene. Down to earth and hen-pecked. Like things
to be simple and straightforward. Happy to mind their own business
and let other people make all the decisions. |
MAN &
WOMAN
|
Married
couple. Don’t appear on stage but their voices are heard
from off stage in one scene. Nature lovers who are genuinely delighted
with the wildlife potential of their new home. |
