From a series of sketches (click on the thumbnails below) based on black and white photographs of the Gardner Arts Centre at Sussex University.

These sketches are linked by the inclusion of trees in the background which, when painted, create a strong contrast in the opposite colours of the red brickwork and the green foliage.

One of these sketches 'Gardner Centre with Trees 01' has been developed further as an acrylic painting ‘Gardner Centre Side View’.
