Pencil and crayon on paper
243mm x 183mm

Using gridlines this sketch was transferred on to a larger sheet of paper to be recreated using wax crayon and watercolour paint.

This technique was replaced later by projecting a photograph on to the canvas and tracing the image with a pencil.

Human figures appear rarely in Mark Reeves' paintings - the digital painting 'Elderly Couple on Brighton Prom' is one of the few examples.
