Blanket on Armchair - 1982
Liquitex on canvas
1164mm x 762mm

This painting was the first to use ‘softer’ forms as a diversification from the geometric style of earlier works.

It is also the first of the 'postgraduate' paintings, signifying a change of direction, using similar methods as before but now with quite different subject matter: interior scenes instead of architectural exteriors.

There are many sketches from this period, but only two other acrylic paintings have been produced: ‘Corner of Bedroom’ and 'Gardner Centre Side View'.
