The Beginning...
Mark Reeves
was born in Dorking, Surrey, on
Monday 22nd May 1961.
"My early years were spent in Horsham and Colgate in West Sussex. I've always been interested in art and music: I can remember drawing Walt Disney characters when I was very young and have enjoyed photography since getting an 'Instamatic' camera for my 14th birthday!
HERE are a few artists whose paintings and styles have been a source of inspiration to me:
Valerio Adami
Patrick Caulfield - Click here for examples of his work at the Tate Modern, London
Salvador Dalí - Click here for examples of his work at the Tate Modern, London
Fernand Léger

"I first became involved in music at the age of seven through learning to play the descant recorder at Chesworth Junior School in Horsham. At nine years old I had trumpet lessons, then progressed to the piano when I was twelve.
"From 1979 to 1982 I studied fine art and music at Brighton Polytechnic (now Brighton University) in East Sussex, attaining a BA (Hons) degree in Expressive Arts."

The Middle...
"Most
of my time in the 1980s was spent writing and performing music with various
bands (Birds with Ears, Tollygunge, Still Life, Retrospect, The Rhythm Method),
although I designed a few posters and record sleeves along the way. In 1983
we (Still Life) supported Culture Club a few times and released a couple
of singles. There was also an exhibition of my acrylic paintings, sketches
and photographs at 'The Art Rooms' in Louth, Lincolnshire in 1984."

Now...
"The
end of the 1990s saw a return to photography and now in the 21st century,
using the latest computer software, a return to painting alongside digital
photography - not forgetting Web site design as well. Check out the LINKS
section and visit the Web sites of Spittin'

In 2005, as a professional pianist and piano/keyboard teacher (see Mark Reeves - Pianist), I don't have as much free time as I would like to create artwork or design Web sites anymore. Any spare time that I have is spent writing and arranging music for the various projects that I am involved in."
