FAQ 1: How long do you play for at a wedding anniversary dinner function or wedding reception breakfast?

Wedding anniversary dinners and wedding reception breakfasts vary in length from about one and a half hours to two and a half hours from the time that everyone takes their seat to the start of the speeches. The piano will be played continuously for the duration of the meal, except for occasional announcements by the Maitre D for example or the Toastmaster. (back)

FAQ 2: Our wedding venue doesn't have a piano so will we need to hire a piano?

There is no need to hire a piano as all the equipment will be provided free of charge, including a Yamaha portable electronic stage piano and stereo PA sound system, so all that's required is access to a mains power supply. If you would prefer to have a grand piano played at your function, this also can be arranged on your behalf and the cost of supplying the grand piano will be added to the fee. (back)

FAQ 3: Can we hire you as a professional wedding pianist for our civil ceremony?

A professional wedding pianist will add a very special touch to your civil wedding ceremony - live piano music is far more effective than playing pre-recorded music on a CD or MP3 player, which tend to malfunction on special occasions such as weddings. (back)

FAQ 4: How much room will you need, as the room we're hiring for our wedding reception isn't very big?

The equipment that's used (a Yamaha portable electronic stage piano and stereo PA sound system) is very compact and can fit into a fairly small area, such as an alcove or in the corner of the room. (back)

FAQ 5: How much do you charge for performing live piano music at a civil ceremony?

FAQ 7: Can we ask you to play any special requests for songs during our drinks reception and wedding breakfast?

Requests for a specific song or songs of a particular artiste are welcome, subject to the music being suitable for the event and whether or not piano arrangements can be obtained or written in time for your wedding reception. (back)

FAQ 8: How much notice should we allow to book you to play the piano at our civil wedding ceremony and wedding reception?

It's best to make a firm booking as soon as possible, as most weddings and other special events occur on Fridays and Saturdays which get booked up well in advance. Also, by booking early the fee for your live wedding music will be fixed at the price quoted and secured by your deposit that you pay at the time of booking. (back)

FAQ 9: How many songs will I need to choose for you to perform on the piano at my civil wedding ceremony?

The usual format is to have background music playing as guests are seated just before the civil wedding ceremony (preludal music) for about 15 to 30 minutes, then music to announce the arrival of the Bride and to accompany her procession, possibly a piece of piano music between readings, there's usually time for two songs during the signing of the register (about 6 to 8 minutes), then exit music for the Bride and Groom and possibly some music as guests are leaving. (back)

FAQ 10: Can you perform as a wedding pianist at my civil ceremony and drinks reception which are being held outdoors?

Wedding ceremonies and drinks receptions are often held outdoors and provided there is shelter from the sun, wind and rain, performing outdoors at weddings is no problem. Access to a mains power supply is needed for the electronic stage piano and sound system. However, if there is no mains electric power supply at the venue, the piano and sound system can be run on power from a car battery. (back)

FAQ 11: Can you play traditional wedding music on the piano for our civil wedding ceremony?

Traditional wedding music can be played on the piano at your civil wedding ceremony, provided that the music does not have any religious content. It is best to avoid using CDs and hi-fi equipment as they have a habit of malfunctioning on special occasions such as weddings. Piano music is also perfect for creating the right atmosphere as guests arrive and take their seats before the start of the wedding ceremony. (back)
